Kellerei Kaltern originated from the merger of the original four local wineries. Already in 1986 the wineries Erste Kellerei and Neue Kellerei (respectively founded in the years 1900 and 1925) has been merged into the Erste+Neue. In 1992 the Bauernkellerei and the Jubiläumskellerei (founded in 1906 and 1908) have merged into the Kellerei Kaltern. The last step towards a common winery took place in 2016. Today the winery counts 650 families, who together cultivate an area of nearly 450 hectares of vineyards. Kellerei Kaltern is an ambassador for the wines from the area around Lake Kaltern and especially for the Kalterersee as a variety. Its wines stand for light-hearted enjoyment and perfectly represent the attitude towards life in this unique region. The winery actively contributes to the preservation of traditions, of the cultural landscape and the family-run agriculture in Kaltern.
- The winecenter of the Kellerei Kaltern welcomes locals and visitors at the village entrance of Kaltern. The monolithic structure at the South Tyrolean wine road skilfully combines timeless aesthetic with the identity of the wine-village. Indeed, the original cellar, dating back to 1911, perfectly fits into the new building. In between there is a beautiful courtyard that invites to linger. Also the winecenter can be rented daily till 7.30 pm.
